1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

There were no apologies for absence.

2. MINUTES

It was RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 28th January 2020 be confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

3. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Councillor R Lloyd declared an interest as he is the Council’s representative on the Areley Kings Village Hall Committee.

4. ARELEY KINGS VILLAGE HALL

The Town Clerk advised Members that two requests had been received from the trustees at Areley Kings Village Hall to move the access gate into the Play Area and to erect a fence at the rear of the hall.

The village hall asked for the play area access gate to be relocated to land on the recreation ground so it was away from the front door of the hall. A discussion ensued and it was agreed that the gate should be left as it was as visitors would have to either walk onto the main road to access the recreation ground which would be unsafe. It was noted that the Parks Manager had offered to cut back the bushes at the front of the village hall to give them more space.

Another request had been received for the erection of a fence at the back of the hall to give added security. The Town Clerk had received confirmation from the Planning Department at Wyre Forest District Council that along as the fence was no more than 2m high, no planning permission was required. Members agreed that this could be erected as it would add more security to the hall and be an extra space that would be used Details of the fencing to be forwarded.

5. KINGSWAY ALLOTMENTS

The Town Clerk updated Members following vandalism at the allotments. Extra fencing had been purchased to repair the damage and the culprits found. There was a new manager in place and new padlocks had been placed on the gates. Following several car accidents on the bend by the allotments, the Town Clerk had contacted the two Stourport County Councillors to see if any road measures could be put in place but unfortunately as the road was classed as rural and not in a housing development, this would not be possible.

The information was noted.

6 BANDSTAND IN THE WAR MEMORIAL PARK

The Town Clerk informed Members that a quote had been received for work on the bandstand in the War memorial Park which was . The Chairman was to obtain some additional quotes for the work.

7. PLAY AREAS AT ARELEY KINGS RECREATIONAL GROUND AND LICKHILL WAR MEMORIAL PARK

The Town Clerk informed Members that following Government guidance, the play area and green gym in Lickhill Warm Memorial Park and the play area on Areley Kings recreational Ground would be open from Monday 13th July 2020. Risk assessments had been carried out and notices would be displayed giving safe guidance.

8. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

The Chairman of the Parks Committee informed Members of a letter he had sent to Dave McCauley regarding removing the rubble around the Scout Building in the Memorial Park. New trustees had taken over.
