Three Kings Parade and Christmas Light switch on
The Three Kings Parade and Christmas Light switch on in Stourport-on-Severn due to take place in November has been cancelled.
The cancellation of the annual event scheduled for 20 November is in the interest of public safety in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mayor of Stourport, Councillor Ken Henderson said: “We are incredibly disappointed that we have had to take this decision but current Government rules on Covid-19 still prevent mass gatherings.”
"If you’ve ever attended the light switch on, you will know that thousands of people come to support the town and keeping socially distanced will be impossible.”
He added “Although we will be foregoing the event this year, we are hoping to still display the lights in the town centre and the Villeneuve-le-Roi Gardens”.
"We are already in talks about planning our 2021 event and it’s set to be the best switch on yet.”
