Mayor's Parlour, Civic Centre, Stourport-on-Severn

Monday 25th March 2024

PRESENT:

Councillors: T Berry (Chairman), D Little, J Thomas.

Officers: S Saunders (town clerk), G Shaw (treasurer)

30. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies for absence were received from T Schmeising-Barnes.

31. MINUTES

It was RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Meeting of the Committee held on the 29th January 2024 be confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

32. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Councillor Thomas declared an Other Disclosable Interest in Agenda Item No. 5 Solar Panels for Stourport Community Centre as he had introduced one of the suppliers to quote for the solar panels and also he opened and closed Stourport Community Centre on behalf of the Town Council.

33. RIVERSIDE PADDLING POOL

Members considered the report from the Treasurer which provided information guidance regarding pool safety.

A discussion ensued on the way forward for the 2024 season and one suggestion was that the paddling pool be closed for the season but use the budget for 2024/25 towards a new system for 2025.

Members resolved the following:

• The paddling pool would open for Summer 2024.
• The revised quotation for £2,789.48 for a new pump (which would be compatible with the “Daisy” system) be purchased.
• The resurfacing work be carried out in time for the 2024 season. The £35,000 required for the work had already been approved and was in the budget.
• Members agreed that they were satisfied that the Town Council, whilst not fully complying with the latest Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) guidance, the water quality achieved by the pool’s current mode of operation was high enough and all records of testing and water quality were on file.
• Members agreed an ‘in-principle’ commitment to comply with the new guidance going forward and that sufficient funds be budgeted for. Enquiries would be made to look at other possible systems and proof needed that any new system was operating successfully and economically in another UK location.
• An amount of £10,000 be put into the budget going forward from 2025/26 so a fund could be built up.

34. QUOTATIONS – SOLAR PANELS FOR STOURPORT COMMUNITY CENTRE

Updated quotations had been received and Members looked at options for solar panels, which included looking at the single phase/3 phase system. It was agreed to have the item at a future Finance Committee meeting, which was suggested as September or October and look to put money into the budget for next year (2025/26).

35. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

There was no other business.

Chairman

The Meeting closed at 13.29 pm.
