Allotment Rules, Kingsway, Stourport-on-Severn

DRAFT

  1. Rent is due by 1st March each year.  Any tenant intending to give up their plot is kindly asked to inform the representative as soon as possible.  No subletting of plots or transferring of plots.
  2. Plots must be used for growing fruit, flowers and vegetables.  Plots to be cultivated and kept reasonably free of weeds.
  3. Committee members will carry out monthly plot inspections.  Any tenants’ plot not meeting standards (general tidiness) will be given 28 days’ notice to effect a marked improvement.
  4. Tenants are responsible for keeping the perimeter boundaries, including the main track (adjacent to their plot) clean and tidy.
  5. No refuse (apart from compost and manure) are to be deposited on or around the plot.  Excess rubbish, (other than compost heaps) to be removed from plot, as this helps to harbour rats.
  6. Carpet or tarpaulins should not cover more than 25% of the plot.  Old rotten  carpet to be removed and disposed of.
  7.  Dogs must be kept under control.
  8. Children should be supervised at all times.
  9. No nuisance to be caused to other plot holders.
  10. Water must not be wasted and hose pipes must not be left unattended.  (Please consider other plot holders waiting to water their plots and restrict watering to 30 min sessions where appropriate.)
  11. All gates to be kept closed and locked at all times.
  12. No open fires or incinerators to be used  (except between 1st November and 28th February inclusive).
  13. If the plot is to be vacated and left in a state which would deter others from taking on the plot, then the plot holder will be liable to a recharge for the removal of the rubbish.
  14. Pilfering: Anyone caught pilfering from plots will have their tenancy terminated, and will receive a letter to clear their plot with immediate effect.

If you have received a 28 day notice, and no improvement has been made, you will only be offered half of your current plot/s at the next renewal.

Rules are subject to change as and when appropriate.

These rules are for the good of the tenants and the well running of the allotments.  Failure to comply could lead to the termination of the lease of your plot.

If anyone is having difficulty with the upkeep of their plot, due to illness or personal difficulties, please contact any of the committee members, or John Day 07976 533 838
