- TO DISCUSS THE OPTIONS FOR SELF MANAGED ALLOTMENT SITES AT ARELEY KINGS, STOURPORT-ON-SEVERN AND KINGSWAY, STOURPORT-ON-SEVERN
The Town Clerk provided an overview of the discussions held with the two allotment sites during a joint meeting on 10th August 2026, which had been attended by the Chairman of the Parks Committee. Representatives from the Kingsway allotment site had expressed an interest in taking over the management of the allotment site, by way of an allotment association. At the same meeting, representatives from Areley Kings allotments had confirmed that they did not wish to pursue taking on any additional management of the site.
A discussion took place regarding the management of the Kingsway allotments, the allotment running costs and the potential impact on the budget, should the site be managed by an allotment association. In response to a Members question, the Town Clerk confirmed that an allotment association would need to have public liability insurance.
It was resolved that Stourport-on-Severn Town Council lease the Kingsway allotment site to an allotment association, commencing on the 1st April 2027. All day-to-day management of the site would become the responsibility of the association, with Stourport-on-Severn Town Council retaining responsibility for the maintenance of the peripheral boundary, the water bill and any discussions pertaining to Section 106 monies. The allotment association would retain all rent raised for the site. A Member of Stourport-on-Severn Town Council would join the Kingsway Allotment Association committee, to ensure the town council remained informed of the association’s activities and any relevant developments.
The meeting closed at 11.13am.
