Stourport future - Your vision, your voice

Informed by our online survey and face to face consultations we have been busy working on a Stourport Future Vision based on three themes of People, Place and Sustainability and we are aiming to share the vision with you in Autumn. In the meantime there are a couple of issues you raised that we would like to address.

Anti -social behaviour

One of the themes to come from the comments we received from the survey was that of policing. As a town council we do not have any direct involvement in the policing of Wyre Forest however we have already sat down with our local policing team and discussed the concerns raised through the survey. Rest assured that your comments have not gone unnoticed and any concerns raised with local councillors will be highlighted to the relevant people.

Cleanliness

This was identified by lots of you in the recent survey. Concerns over litter, a lack of bins and general ‘tidying up’ being the main focus. This is a challenging one and something that has many elements to be addressed. Wyre Forest District Council look after street care and cleaning across much of the district, including Stourport, with Worcestershire County Council being responsible for highways maintenance.

Did you know you can help highlight problem areas to the district council?

There are also active community litter pickers in our area with organised group litter picks arranged, normally publicised on social media. You can keep up to date with the work by the Pickup Artists by joining the Facebook group Keeping Kidderminster and surrounding areas clean, there’s lots of opportunity to get involved too. Did you know you can even adopt a street and help to keep your local area clean and looking good?

State of town centre (particularly Bridge Street).

Properties in our town centre are private rather than public ownership. This means that it is for the private owners to ensure that their properties are well kept.
